D.C. has been the nation’s capital since the late 1700’s. There are easily over 100 monuments and memorials for you to see and explore. If you are interested in taking tours, there are dozens of tours for you to choose from. Or if you like history, you can go to the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History, the National Archives, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, Fredrick Douglass’ house, Mount Vernon, or the Library of Congress. If you are interested in art, you can visit the National Gallery of Art (the East building or the West building), the Hirshhorn Museum, the Freer Gallery of Art, the Arts and Industries, the Sculpture Garden or the African Art Museum. There are dozens more museums that you can go to, 19 of which are part of the Smithsonian Institution, all of which are free of charge! With all of the things to do in Washington D.C. you either will want to plan your time there or stay for a while!!!
